Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa, Lady Mallowan, DBE (1890 - 1976), commonly known as Agatha Christie, is
one of the world´s best-known mystery writers. She is best remembered for her 80 novels
and short story collections and over one dozen plays. Her works, featuring detectives Hercule Poirot
or Miss Jane Marple, have given her the title the "Queen of Crime" and made her one of the most
important and innovative writers in the development of the genre. Her play, "THE MOUSETRAP" holds the
record for the longest initial run in the world, opening at the Ambassadors Theatre in London on 25 November
1952, and as of 2008 is still running after more than 20,000 performances.
A young married man spends many evenings with a rich old woman. When she is found murdered, the naive
young man is the chief suspect. The testimony of his wife is expected to result in an acquittal, but all
does not go as expected on the stand, a mysterious woman appears, and the young man´s fate appears
sealed. Then, just when you think you have it all figured out, you are dealt an astounding triple twist of
an ending!
